The late Valerie Akinyi Ouma was born in the year 2003, on January 18th to Pamela Achieng and George Ouma of Kokoth Kateng. She was the 2nd born child out of three. She was a sister to Velma Atieno and Jared Omondi. She was also a daughter to David Onoka, Thomas Nyaywera and Walter Odinga.


Valerie started her schooling at Kanyanfwa Primary School in the year 2009. She sat for her KCPE exams in the year 2016 and later joined St. Thomas Omiro in 2017. In the year 2020, she sat for her KCSE exams where she did well and got a chance to pursue her studies at Kenyatta University, where she was pursuing a course in Public Health.

At the university, she created lasting bonds with her friends and classmates who described her as the heart of their team. She developed a knack of solving every intricate problem with grace and ease. Valerie Akinyi Ouma, was one loved by friends and family for her kind heart, problem solving skills and caring nature. She was a sister, confidant, and reliable teammate to her loved ones. Many of her colleagues called her “Katwin because of her caring nature.


Valerie was perfectly okay and had never complained about health issues until she met her demise in a grisly accident at Voi. She was apparently going for an academic trip to Mombasa, where she sadly didn’t manage to reach the destination unfortunately, she could not soldier on through the accident and she passed on, on 18th March 2024.

We will meet again, Rest in peace - Adundo.
