Dinah Wanyonyi

It is with profound sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Mama Dinah Naliaka Wanyonyi of Kiungani/Lunyu, Trans Nzoia County.

She passed away in Kiungani, Kitale on Sunday 30th June 2024 aged 79 years.

Mama Dinah, whose lifelong career as an educationist and dedicated church leader, has left a profound legacy on the lives, families, and careers of many in Trans-Nzoia and across the country. To interconnected families, she was a pillar of grace, kindness, goodwill, togetherness, and humanity. She played a crucial role in shaping the values and guiding the paths of her children, grandchildren, and extended family, ensuring that her legacy of compassion and integrity continues to inspire future generations.

She is the daughter of the late Rasto Bunyasi Musungu and the late Agnes Anjiwa Bunyasi. Daughter-in-Law to the late Rasto Wanyonyi Kusimba and the late Elizabeth Apeti Namaemba.

She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin Nyongesa Wanyonyi and devoted mother to David Biketi Nyongesa, John Mechumo Nyongesa, Andrew Manafwa Nyongesa, Lois-Grace Nafula Wanyonyi, and Peter Kusimba Nyongesa

She was a loving grandmother to Elizabeth Subira, Jason Munyasia, Nina Dinah, Yaye Leila, Janice Atieno, Lakeisha Naliaka, Shawn Wanyonyi, Azania Nabvangi, Miles Munabi, Jaleel Bunyasi, Zani Nyongesa

Great grandmother to Zeta.

Mother-in-Law to the late Dickson Komora, Joyce Chepkemoi, Gorety Apondi, Grace Mukiri, Valery Nanduti, Sharon Sankei

She was an auntie to numerous nieces and nephews. She was also a niece, cousin and friend to many whose lives she touched with her kindness.
 
A fundraising event to support funeral expenses will take place on Monday, 8th July 2024, at the All-Saints Cathedral (Kindergarten Room), starting at 5 p.m.

The burial service will be held on Friday, 12th July 2024 at Kiungani, Kiminini, Off Kitale-Webuye Road, Trans-Nzoia County, followed by her interment at the family home.
 
Madam Dinah, we are witnesses to the work of your gentle hands here on earth. Your legacy will be gloriously preserved in your children and lineage, the thousands of students you mentored, diverse individuals, direct and extended families, and the church community to which you dedicated your life.
