It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Michael Odhiambo Oyier, due to complications from a stroke. Michael was a gentle soul who leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and incredible talent.
Michael was the cherished husband of Dinah Nasimiyu Kituyi-Oyier (IREX East Africa). He was a devoted father to Betty Kimosh, Mercy Nambo, Lena Nasimiyu, Lynn Aduma, Abigail Auma Oyier, Israel Kisaingu, Israelle Mutinda, and Davis Odero Oyier.
He was the son of the late Alfred Johnson Davies Odero Oyier and the late Lynette Beldinah Auma Aduma Oyier, and the son-in-law of the late Mzee Jamin Makari Kituyi and the late Mama Joina Mukasa Kituyi. Grandson of the late Pastor Zephania Oyier and the late Susanna Oyier, and the late Joab Obat and the late Penninah Obat.
Michael was a precious brother to Jeff Oyier, the late Emily Oyier, Paul Oyier, Peter Oyier, and Olga Oyier-Tawali. A supportive brother-in-law to Lucy Mbuki Oyier, Lucy Wache Oyier, Isabella Ochola Oyier, Tawali Mumba, the late Simakulu Edward Kimunguyi Kituyi, Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, the late Albert Waliaula, Juliet Kituyi, Margaret Kituyi, Esther Kituyi, Dixon Kituyi, Lydia Kituyi and Joshua Kituyi.
He was the favourite uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, including Tiana, Kyle, Mitchelle, Adam, Fadhili, Kadii, Bella, Jeff, Mimando, Adlai, Johnson, Adalia, Thamani, Eliana and Micah.
He was also a nephew, cousin and friend to many whose lives he touched with his kindness.
A fundraising event to cover hospital costs and funeral expenses will take place on Tuesday, 30th April 2024, at the All Saints Cathedral Auditorium (Nairobi), starting at 5 p.m.

The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, 1st May 2024, at the All Saints Cathedral (Nairobi) starting at 12pm.
The burial service will be held on Friday, 3rd May 2024 at Riwa Primary School, West Kanyada, Homa Bay County, followed by Michael's interment at the family home.
Michael's warm spirit and golden voice will remain etched in our hearts and memories forever.
