Mary Gorrety

We are suddened to announce the passing on of our beloved sister Mary Gorrety Achieng, which occurred on 29th May 2023, in Nairobi county.

Late Mary Gorrety Achieng was born in 1994 into the family of Nicholas Okong'o and Loise Okong'o. She was the sixth born. She got baptised and confirmed at St Paul's Catholic Church in Kisumu. She attended Bar Ogwal and Got Nyabondo Primary Schools. Thereafter, she joined Gimarian Secondary School. 

Mary Gorrety got married to Alfred Omondi Nyambara in 2013. The couple was blessed with three children: Maxwell, Valarie and Mary Gorrety. Being a staunch Catholic, Mary Gorrety joined Catholic Women Association(CWA) and got commissioned on 6th November, 2022.

On 29th May, 2023, Mary Gorrety visited Sammaritan Healthcare Centre at Dandora to attend maternity care. She delivered a healthy baby girl at around 2pm. Unfortunately, some complications emerged after the delivery. She had a severe bleeding. Since the health facility could not manage her situation they gave her a referral to Mama Lucy Hospital where doctors tried to save her life but in vain. She passed on the same day at 7pm.
