BIRTH

Mwalimu JOSIAH OKINDA NYAKADO was born to the late John Nyakado Nyakado and Mama Penina Obinju NyakadoHe was the first born amongst his siblings namely, Margaret Adhiambo Nyakado, the late Joyce Akumu Nyakado, William Kiche Nyakado, George Otieno Nyakado, John Oyugi Nyakado, Samwel Ayodo Nyakado and Charles Odhiambo Nyakado. He is brother-in-law to Rosemary Kiche, Eunice Otieno, Millicent Oyugi, Linet Ayodo, and  Queenter  Odhiambo.

EDUCATION AND CAREER LIFE:

He joined Saye Primary school and later finished his CPE at Sangoro Primary school in Nyakach. He passed the examinations and later joined Onjiko High School. Upon completion of high school he went to college at ASUMBI TEACHERS COLLEGE (ASUTEC) where he completed his P1 certification.Being taught in various schools. He began from Olembo Primary School and moved variously to Apondo Kasaye Primary school, Sango Buru Primary School, Nyamanyinga Primary school, Awuoro Primary School, Wire Primary School, Nyalenda Primary school, God Nyango Primary school and finally Nyafare Primary School where he finished his tenure in the civil service as employed by the Teachers Service commission.Passionate about life skills, he was a great teacher and inspirator, who shared a wealth of experience every time he had an opportunity. He used real-life examples when he mentored those that he shared with. Dad made huge sacrifices to ensure those around him, including his siblings, went to school.

He chaired many other social meetings naturally due to his leadership skills and was a great events and logistics coordinator.Having a huge business acumen that had him nicknamed (Okuyu), he ran successful maize milling ventures and later was into transport business and events support services christened, ARUAKI VENTURES.Besides his entrepreneurship and professional work, he served the Homa Bay region Deeper Word Gospel Ministries as the Administrative Secretary until the month of August.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE:

Mwalimu was married to Grace Auma Okinda in April 1978 and Elizeth Atieno Okinda in 2006. God blessed them with six children. Wicklife Okinda, Kennedy Okinda, Colly Okinda, Jael Okinda, David Okinda and Ferdinand Okinda.He was grandfather to Dornell Hynes, Esther Audrey, Emannuel Wayde, Fred George, Ruth Anne, Angela Gift, Grace Hellen, Shirleen Miriam, Aphline Adhiambo, Lesly Akinyi, Jasline Achieng, blessing Alma and Dylan Piaget.He was a father-in-law to Carolyne Nyanya,Penina Achieng, the late Robert Ouko and Felix Malesi. He was in-laws to the late Bishop Paul Guya Obwaro and the late Esther Guya. His other in laws were, Pius Panya and Mary Auma, the late Daniel Nyanya and the late Goretty Nyanya, Hezron Anthala, Naomi Athiambo, Francis Malesi, and Ebby Khaziga, the late George Chacha and Hellen Akoth Obiero.

ILLNESS

Mwalimu was strong and had a healthy life devoid of any illness.The first known complaint hardly in a year was stomach ulcers,and Upon a series of further medical tests from Agha Khan University Hospital, he tested positive for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He was treated from different hospitals until on 6th August 2023 when he lost the battle at Nightingale Hospital.
