Gladys Wamuyu

BIRTH

Gladys Wamuyu was born in the year 1952, at Gatei sub- location, Iriaini location,Mathira Sub-County, Nyeri County to the Late Kabiru Ngure and Late Hellen Muthoni.

She was sister to the late Samuel Ngure Kabiru, Dickson Murimi and Beatrice Nyaguthii.

UPBRINGING

As a little girl Gladys was an obedient hardworking child. She would help her parents with household duties of those times including fetching water, grazing and cultivating among other duties.

She attended and completed her primary school education.

MARRIAGE

In 1974 Gladys met the love of her life Mr. Samuel Kanyua Leonard and the married under the kikuyu customs.

In 1989 she exchanged marriage vows with her husband at Kariobangi South PCEA Church.

They were blessed with six children namely Anthony Kabirû, the late Jane Wanjirû, John Irungu, Margaret Wanjugu, Albert Mwangi and David Ngure.

CHURCH

The late Gladys confessed Christianity at a young age and was baptized at Kanjuri PCEA Church. In0 1989 she underwent catechism lessons and was confirmed as a full member of PCEA Gituamba Church- Ruai where she was an active member.

She was a staunch Woman’s Guild Member from year 2000 upto to her resting.

WORK

The late Gladys was an active business lady.She also actively engaged in crop and livestock farming until her demise.

ILLNESS

The late Gladys enjoyed great health most of her life.On the morning of 5th May 2023 she suddenly fell ill, was rushed to Megalife Hospital Ruai and passed on at 9.10AM. She rested at the age of 71 leaving behind her husband, five children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren namely Jammy, Tracey, Wamuyu Gkadi, Jennifer, Kyla, Rooney, Lennie and Ann
