George Opiyo Obong'o was a pioneer broadcast journalist with the Voice of Kenya, the precursor of KBC.
He joined KBC while studying law at the University of Nairobi. He had passion for journalism and made a career switch to Journalism. He joined the Public service as an Information Officer and rose through the ranks to become the Director of Information at the Ministry of Information and Communications where he retired from.
He is the son to the late Mzee Obong'o Opiyo and the late Alseba Owuor. He was loving husband to the late Monica Mosi. Adoring farther to Tony& Betty, Chimmie & Paul, Lidya & Walter, late catherine, Johnny& Joash. Grandfather, Uncle ,Friend, and mentor to many.
He was promoted to glory on 19 October 2022.
Funeral funds drive on Thursday 3rd November 2022, at All Saints Cathedral Meeting Hall, Nairobi.
