In Loving Memory of Caroline Ombasa: A Life Cut Short

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Caroline Ombasa, a beloved sister, daughter, and mother, who was taken from us far too soon. Caroline, affectionately known as Carol, was born in Nairobi County in 1992 and tragically lost her life on August 18, 2023, in the Patanisho neighborhood, a victim of senseless violence.

Carol's life was marked by her unwavering love and dedication to her family and her unbreakable spirit that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and kind-hearted nature left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She had an innate ability to bring joy to any room, a gift that she shared generously with her family, friends, and community.

Carol was a cherished daughter of Samwel Ombasa and Malia Mueni, a sister to Chris, Eucabeth (Minzari), Marube, Nathan (Kadungerere), Joyce, Sam, and many others. Her presence within the family was a source of comfort, support, and strength. She held a special place in the hearts of her siblings, serving as a beacon of light and wisdom.

As a mother, Carol was a true testament to the boundless love a mother can have for her children. Her children—Nelly, Njoki, Justus, and Nekesa—were her pride and joy. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing them, providing a foundation of love and values that will forever shape their lives.

Though Carol's journey on this earth was tragically cut short, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. We remember her not only for the way she brightened our lives with her presence, but also for her unwavering strength and resilience in the face of adversity.

We stand together as a community to honor Carol's memory and condemn the violence that took her from us. In the midst of this sorrow, let us remember the warmth of her embrace, the sound of her laughter, and the love she shared with each and every one of us. May her spirit inspire us to embrace one another with kindness, to cherish our loved ones, and to work towards a world where such senseless acts of violence have no place.

A memorial service to celebrate Carol's life will be held on 1st September, at Langata cemetery. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Carol to join us in paying tribute to her remarkable journey and bidding her a heartfelt farewell.

As we grieve the loss of Caroline Ombasa, let us also remember the importance of coming together as a community to support one another, to heal, and to ensure that her memory continues to shine brightly through the lives she touched.
